Our Story

2023 - Present

Mark Saville - Mark was elected to the role of Captain in 2023 after Michael stood down. Mark joined Loftus in Jan 2015 and has held positions within the executive and as a Deputy Captain.

2013 - 2023

Michael Harvey (Harvey) - Michael joined Loftus in October 1996. After many years in the brigade he was elected to Deputy Captain in 2010 and Senior Deputy Captain in 2012 followed by Captain the next year. Michael served as Captain for 10 years consecutively. Michael is one of our longest serving Captains and one of our longest serving members. Michael was nominated as Life Member in 2017.

2010 - 2012

Ronald Short (Shorty) - Ron joined Loftus in August 1983. Throughout his career he held various positions including 4 years as brigade President. Ron was elected to Captain at the 2010 AGM.

2006 (Half Term) - 2009

Greg Munsie - Greg joined Loftus in February 1985 and was elected to Captain during a mid term SGM in 2006. Greg was nominated for Life Member in 2009.

2005 (Half Term) - 2006 (Half Term)

Michael Alyward (Mick) - Mick joined the RFS in January 1981, moving to Loftus in June that same year. Michael was elected as Captain at a mid year SGM after previous Captain T.Porter departed. Michael was himself offered an interstate opportunity 6 months into his following term in 2006. Mick served as Captain for 12 months.

2002 - 2005 (Half Term)

Troy Porter (T-Roy) - Troy joined Loftus in February 1989. Troy held many roles during his time as a member of Loftus including Deputy Captain, Senior Deputy Captain, President and 5 years as Treasurer. Troy resigned as Captain to pursue a professional role within the Rural Fire Service. Troy was nominated as Life Member in 2017.

1999 - 2001

Peter Franks (Trolley) - Peter was elected to the rank of Captain at the 1999 AGM. He served as Captain for 3 years following on from his brother. Peter held many roles within Loftus including Deputy Captain and Secretary.

1997 - 1998

Steve Franks (Franksie) - Steve became a member of Loftus in November 1981. Steve held many roles during his time at Loftus including Deputy Captain and Senior Deputy Captain, ultimately Captain before leaving to pursue a professional career within the Rural Fire Service.

1990 - 1996

Rodney Evans - Rod joined Loftus in December 1981. Rod held many roles within the brigade both operationally and as a Deputy Captain and Senior Deputy Captain. Rod also held positions as both Secretary and Treasurer. Rod was one of our longest serving Captains volunteering 7 years to the role.

1983 - 1985

Murray Balfour - Murray was elected to the rank of Captain at the 1983 AGM. Murray also held executive roles within the brigade serving as Treasurer for 4 years.

1979 - 1982 & 1986 - 1989

Raymond Pope (Popey) - Ray became a member of Loftus in 1968. Raymond was a Loftus brigade institution. He was a mentor to many Loftus members. Raymond was an extremely active member of the brigade holding roles both operationally and within the executive. Ray was a long serving Captain totaling 8 years within the role. Ray also served as President for 7 years.

1976 - 1978

Harry McDermott - Along with 3 years of service as Captain to the Loftus brigade, Harry also served as brigade President for 4 years.

1972 - 1975

Gavin Nelson - Gavin served as Captain for 4 years, followed by 1 year as brigade President.
